abstract

in this paper the interior noise level of a vehicle due to structural vibration, named structure borne noise, as a part of nvh analysis has been investigated. first structural analysis is performed and vibrational behavior of structure carried out due to power plant excitations. then interior acoustic cavity response for such excitation and resultant noise is determined. vibrational analysis is performed on three dimensional structure and internal cavity, by considering all the effective components and vibrational tracks in the cabin. finally, the acoustical behavior of the cavity in different frequencies predicted by cavity normal modes, and results are used to reduce noise level through passive noise control methods.

Calculation of protein form birefringence using the finite element method.

An approach based on the finite element method (FEM) is employed to calculate the optical properties of macromolecules, specifically form birefringence. Macromolecules are treated as arbitrarily shaped particles suspended in a solvent of refraction index n1. The form birefringence of the solution is calculated as the difference in its refractive index when all the particles of refractive index ...

Dynamic Response of the Coupled Vehicle-Floating Slab Track System using Finite Element Method

In present study, a mathematical model of the vehicle–floating slab track (FST) interaction is established to investigate the coupled behaviour of vehicle–track system. The FST is modelled as the double Euler -Bernoulli beam including the rail and slab. The railway vehicle is simplified as a multi-rigid-body model. The wheel–rail interface is treated using a nonlinear Hertzian contact model, co...

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Fluid-Structure Interaction Using the Particle Finite Element Method

In the present work a new approach to solve fluid-structure interaction problems is described. Both, the equations of motion for fluids and for solids have been approximated using a material (lagrangian) formulation. To approximate the partial differential equations representing the fluid motion, the shape functions introduced by the Meshless Finite Element Method (MFEM) have been used. Thus, t...

Fast Finite Element Method Using Multi-Step Mesh Process

This paper introduces a new method for accelerating current sluggish FEM and improving memory demand in FEM problems with high node resolution or bulky structures. Like most of the numerical methods, FEM results to a matrix equation which normally has huge dimension. Breaking the main matrix equation into several smaller size matrices, the solving procedure can be accelerated. For implementing ...

Fast Stiffness Matrix Calculation for Nonlinear Finite Element Method

We propose a fast stiffness matrix calculation technique for nonlinear finite element method (FEM). Nonlinear stiffness matrices are constructed usingGreen-Lagrange strains, which are derived from infinitesimal strains by adding the nonlinear terms discarded from small deformations. We implemented a linear and a nonlinear finite element method with the same material properties to examine the di...
